TECHNICAL DETAILS
Ervin AMS grade cast steel shot conforms to AMS 2431 to achieve critical characteristics of durability and transmitted energy. Highlights:
- Chemistry
(ASTM E 350) – Carbon, manganese, phosphorus and sulphur. Manganese content based on shot size.
- Microstructure
Tempered martensite with fine, well-distributed carbides
- Size and Shape
Meets or exceeds AMS 2431 size and shape tolerances.
- Hardness
ASR (45 to 52 HRC) and ASH (55 to 62 HRC).
CERTIFICATION
Certified to AMS 2431/1 or AMS 2431/2, as applicable, following rigorous testing for compliance.
APPLICABILITY
- Shot peening performed to process specifications such as AMS 2430, AMS 2432, and related OEM standards requires the use of AMS grade media.
- Applications following MIL-S-13165C, AMS-S-13165, and similar specifications can also benefit from the use of AMS grade media for optimal shot peening performance.
